The 1936 Olympics in Berlin was planned as propaganda of fascism. More than 5 thousand athletes at the opening ceremony welcomed Hitler by throwing his right hand upwards, familiar to Germany at that time. Not surprisingly, even an Olympic village in a militarized country was built near military barracks. Athletes quickly got used to both a large number of military personnel in the settlement territory and constant Nazi propaganda.
After the departure of national teams, the village was occupied by the military. There was a military academy and medical unit, and after the arrival of Soviet troops, prisoners of war were interrogated in former athletes' rooms. The troops were withdrawn only in 1992, and since then the village has been abandoned.
