The famous park of culture and rest "Chistyakovskaya Grove" is decorated according to all the canons of old Russia. A bit of history

The oaks, which make up the majority of the stands, are about a century old. These centuries-old trees were planted not by chance, but by decree of the City Council. Whatever times the grove has ever seen, but the peak of oblivion came in the period of perestroika. Then all the attractions belonging to the amusement park were undeservedly forgotten.
Hard times
At the time of the dashing 90s of the 19th century, by decree of the Cossack Dolgov, the outlines of the first forest plantations gradually began to appear in this place. A little later, Gabriel Chistyakov issued an order according to which it became clear that a grove would be organized here. This decision was approved by the authorities, and more specifically by the city’s Duma.
Before all the trees, centuries-old oaks appeared in the grove, which require more than one hundred years to fully grow. Also there, to this day, ash, birch, maple and pine grow.
The war served as the basis for the extermination of many valuable species of trees, which were mercilessly cut down by the followers of the fascist movement under the leadership of Adolf Hitler. Now volunteers are trying hard to restore the old architectural concept of the square, planting new vegetation and reanimating leisure facilities.
1962 was the year when the grove was renamed May Day. Specially for the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, in one of the picturesque corners of this culture park, a monument was erected dedicated to the memory of those who fell during the terrible, inhuman confrontation.
Park area
The updated, modern look of the grove has already been 7 years old, since the last reconstruction was carried out in the distant 2008. In terms of size, the grove is quite spacious. The usable area is about 36 hectares.
