The weapon is classified by many parameters: compactness, reliability, ease of use, purpose, etc. But despite the huge selection, there are models that have not lost their popularity over the years. The most popular among domestic production, of course, is PP-19 "Bison". This submachine gun won the trust among the military primarily with a store capacity, which is two times higher than that of other models.
The weapon can easily carry both short and long bursts (up to 64 rounds). The accuracy of the gun, which was used only a few times, is excellent even at a distance of 100 meters. The return of PP, as well as its mass, is small. A feature that somewhat reduces usability is the shifted center of gravity - in this sample it is shifted forward.
The basis of the "Bison" is the mechanism of the famous Kalashnikov assault rifle, and this is not surprising, since V. M. Kalashnikov, D. G. Dolganov, A. E. Dragunov and S. D. Gorbunov, the sons of the great gunsmiths and worthy successors, were engaged in the development of this weapon fathers.
Differences "Bison"
The machine gun PP-19 "Bison" is designed in several versions that differ in parameters. The earliest and at the same time the most common PP is equipped with a brown handle. This development was pre-production, and was created to test the theoretical capabilities of weapons.
The next product was a modification - "Bison-2". The latter is designed for cartridges 9x18 PM and 9x18 PMM. Based on this product, all subsequent samples were created. Option marked "B" provides for the possibility of silent shooting. PP-2-01 is adapted for 9x19 cartridges. "Bison-2-02" - under 9x17. Both options make it possible to fire automatically.
"Bison-2-03" is adapted for 9x18 cartridge, there is the possibility of silent shooting. Three subsequent developments belong to the class of self-loading carbines, in which cartridges 9x18, 9x19 and 9x17 are used, respectively. A feature is the lack of automatic fire.
The most optimal sample among PP
Weapon experts identify the most optimal option - PP-19 "Bison-2", which is adapted for 7.62x25 TT cartridges. A box magazine can be used in this sample. A plastic forend is mounted on the gun itself.
Bison 3 is also popular. In this design, the butt is folded up, the handle of the shutter frame is also located on top.
Based on the existing weapons, the engineers created the 9-mm Vityaz-SN software. This device is actively used for arming special forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other units. Such a modification has become popular among computer game designers.
Design and principle of operation of "Bison"
PP-19 "Bison" is more than half based on AK. For example, a receiver with a pistol grip and a trigger mechanism, a folding butt and a fire translator are identical to the details of the AK-47.
The trigger mechanism of the machine gun - trigger type. Single shots are fired with a closed shutter. The stem is also a guiding element. Weapon balance is improved due to the successful location of the guide.
One of the modifications of "Bison", software "Vityaz", are widely used in law enforcement. This gun is equipped with an unusual magazine, and the overall similarity with AK is 70%. Two stores are filled with cartridges of different types, which is very convenient for various operations within the city.
The automation mechanism PP-19 "Bison" is built on a free shutter (and in the equally popular AK - on the use of the power of powder gases). Before the shot, the bolt is in the far right position, and its speed is controlled by mass.
The weight of "Buffalo" does not exceed 2.9 kg (excluding cartridges). Do not forget about the weight of the equipped store - about 1 kg. Rate of fire from 680 to 750 rounds per minute. The capacity of the screw store depends on the size of the cartridge and is 64 pieces (for 9x18) or 53 (for 9x19).
Additional features of the submachine gun
Experts highlight one of the most interesting parts of the weapon - a screw store. Features of its design are presented in the photo PP-19 "Bison". Cartridges are placed in special screw grooves, in a spiral, parallel to the axis of the magazine. Their supply is made by a spring. The latter, in turn, is cocked by rotating the handle, which is located at the end of the store.
The design of the store is made of high impact plastic. Its successful location provides additional stability during firing, and also does not increase the dimensions of the weapon and additionally performs the function of a forearm.
The rise of cartridges in the neck of the store is provided by an inclined platform, which is located at the rear end of the outer surface of the screw. Cartridges are moved by a separator. The latter has 10 grooves, windows for the exit of cartridges and special cutouts that interact with the latch when the magazine is equipped.
New from the old manufacturer
In addition to the generally accepted and well-known brands and designs of weapons, there are several more exclusive options: PP-19 "High Roller Bison", airsoft gun and Silverback PP-19 "Bizon". Unfortunately, some of the developments are secret, and are not available for general viewing.
