We could not tame fires in Siberia and Amazonia, and now we are suffering from another natural disaster - hurricanes. Settlements near the ocean are especially prone to them.
About a week ago, Hurricane Dorian hit the east coast of the United States, and today there is news and photographs of the damage. Record-breaking strong winds and rains affected Canada and reached the Bahamas.
Affected Territories
Dorian has captured only a small part of the Bahamas, a country of more than 700 islands, but these areas have undergone "epoch-making destruction, " according to Prime Minister Hubert Minnis.
According to Iceye SAR Satellite Constellation, which received satellite photos of the Bahamas after the storm passed, the island of Grand Bahama was more than 60% under water. Great efforts now have to be made to repair the damage done to the international airport and small regional airports in the surrounding areas.
The photo shows buildings and aircraft debris scattered by the storm. In some places, the runways were flooded and even people were killed.

According to officials, Hurricane Dorian has led to more than 40 deaths, and it is estimated that 13, 000 homes are severely damaged or destroyed. So the situation from “The Wizard of the Emerald City” is by no means an invention, but a terrible threat.
Since the storm devastated the Grand Bahamas International Airport in Freeport, buildings, planes, workers and passengers were affected, not to mention that flights were canceled and not planned. Now the place resembles a landfill: spare parts of damaged equipment are scattered across the entire area of the building and the surrounding roads.
