The capital is constantly inhabited by more than twelve million inhabitants. This fact causes a great need for burial places of the deceased - cemeteries. There are quite a lot of them in the capital, and some of them are unique sights.
One of the cemeteries in the southern part of the Moscow region is called Shcherbinsky. This is due to the fact that next to it is the town of Shcherbinka. The head of this cemetery is the state unitary enterprise “Ritual”, which manages the main funerary complexes of the capital. This article is dedicated to this cemetery, its features and mode of operation.
general information
The Shcherbinsky cemetery is located in the Podolsky district of the south of the Moscow region on an area equal to approximately 90 hectares. Thus, it is one of the largest cemeteries in the capital, although it is not a champion in this sense. The Shcherbinskoe cemetery was opened for burials in 1982, and until now it is possible to purchase a plot on its territory.
The structure of the Shcherbinsky cemetery
Structurally, the cemetery complex near Shcherbinka is divided into two parts: southern and central. Actually, the Central Shcherbinskoe cemetery is the main one, discovered in the beginning of the eighties in the Soviet Union. But the Southern cemetery, which today is also part of the Shcherbinskoye burial complex, is the fruit of its expansion already in 1997. It provides the complex with an additional 30 hectares of land. Together, these two parts are segmented into almost a hundred sites intended for burial.
Temples in the burial complex
In addition to the graves, the Shcherbinskoe cemetery has an Orthodox church on its territory. To be more precise, this is a chapel in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity, which is under the jurisdiction of the clergy of the Zakharya Church.
Landscaping
Landscaping is another important point that distinguishes the Shcherbinskoe cemetery. Moscow in this regard is a rather controversial city, in which far from all objects are impeccable care. In this case, the burial complex was lucky - it is very well landscaped. The land plots are separated from each other by wide enough paths covered with modern high-quality asphalt pavement, they are also equipped with a drainage system to avoid flooding of the territory. Along the central alley of the cemetery, flowerbeds lined with beautiful fresh flowers.
At each corner of the complex are taps that allow free use of water. In total, there are 175 such cranes at the Shcherbinskoye cemetery. In addition, the complex is equipped with several dozen points intended for garbage collection.
Possible burial options
As for the options for burial, there are several. In one case, the deceased is put in a coffin, in the other, his ashes are placed in an urn. At the same time, the choice is given - burial the urn in the ground or placing it in a specialized niche of an open columbarium, which is also located on the territory of the Shcherbinsky cemetery. In addition, in new areas there is an opportunity to obtain land for family, that is, family graves. In the southern part of the cemetery, there is a 1.2-hectare site intended for the burial of Koreans and Buddhists. Also in the cemetery there is a Kurdish site.
Graveyard Services
So that relatives can look after the graves, clean them and bring them in proper form, there is a rental point for all the necessary equipment in the cemetery. Thus, Moscow residents do not need to bring it with them, which is difficult if there is no car.
Opening hours of the cemetery complex
You can visit the Shcherbinskoye cemetery during its official opening hours. From the beginning of May to the end of September, the regime of the complex is as follows: from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. In the season from early October to late April, visiting time is limited from 9am to 5pm. Burials in the cemetery are made daily, starting from the opening and until 5:00 p.m. daily, seven days a week.
Shcherbinskoe cemetery (Moscow): how to get there
To get to the Scherbinsky cemetery by public transport, you can use the bus, which leaves from the metro station "South". In the period from October 1 to the end of March, it runs from 08:30 to 16:00. From April 1 to the end of September, the bus schedule is extended for three hours in the evening, that is, until seven in the afternoon. And on weekends, the operating mode also starts earlier - from 07:00 in the morning.
