The village of Raevskaya (Krasnodar Territory) is located in the south-west of the Krasnodar Territory, in the territory of the Novorossiysk urban district, not far from the Black Sea coast. It is located at a distance of 21 km from the center of Novorossiysk and about the same distance from Anapa.

Geographical features of the area

The terrain is uneven. From almost all directions (except the northwest), Raevskaya is surrounded by forested low mountains. The village itself is in decline. On the map of the Krasnodar Territory, the village of Raevskaya is quite close to the Black Sea - it is about 15 km in a straight line to it. However, it has no direct road connection with the coast. The village of Raevskaya (Krasnodar Territory, Novorossiysk is the nearest point) is located several kilometers south of the Anapa-Novorossiysk highway, in the upper reaches of the small Meskaga river.

The climate in this area is mild and moderately dry. Winters are relatively warm and moderately humid, although cold snap is not uncommon. Summer is hot and arid. Such conditions favor the cultivation of grapes, so there are many vineyards in the vicinity of the village.

History of the village

The year of foundation of the village of Raevskaya (Krasnodar Territory) is 1839. It was built under the leadership of General Nikolai Raevsky, who was also the founder of the village. Initially, it was a military fort. Then it was called Fort Raevsky. Permanent residential buildings appeared here in 1862. At that time there were only 40 buildings in which families from the village of Kalnibolotskaya lived. The goal was agricultural development of the territory.

More ancient is the Raevskoye settlement, which is located at a distance of 3.5 km from the village. His other name is Nogai-kale. The total area of ​​this ancient settlement is about 4 hectares. In recent decades, it has been actively investigated by archaeologists. Research expeditions are sent there annually. In total, several layers of anthropogenic origin were revealed at the excavation site. Their thickness in some areas over two meters.

The oldest layer belongs to the Copper Age and is dated to the third millennium BC. The later layers belong to the Iron Age and the period of antiquity, and the youngest belongs to the Middle Ages. During periods of hostilities, ancient settlements were often destroyed and then restored in the same place again.

During the excavation, fragments of stone fortifications, the remains of houses and other structures, a large amount of ceramics were found.

Village Features

The modern village of Raevskaya (Krasnodar Territory) is a green and well-maintained village with good transport links. Minibuses and buses regularly deliver passengers to the cities: Novorossiysk and Anapa. In addition to residential buildings, there is the People’s Museum of the History of the Village, the local House of Culture, an agricultural farm, a hospital, schools (including art), shops, a market, and kindergartens.

There is a central square where you can see the bust of General Raevsky. This is the only instance in the world. On the territory of the village there is an agricultural enterprise - Raevskaya poultry farm. Broiler chickens are grown on it, and they are also involved in the processing of meat obtained from them.
