Since marketing has recently gained new horizons of consideration in the eyes of ordinary buyers, the producing country plays an important role. We are inspired by myths that everything Chinese is breaking, American is expensive, German is quality, etc. Therefore, the more exotic the inscription on the label, the greater the dead end we drive ourselves into. It seems like “made in Romania” - interesting, but at the same time - how prestigious is it?
The role that the producing country performs in our decision-making is largely explained by the dynamics of globalization and the expansion of our consumer consciousness. We are aware of working conditions and factors of production in China and Great Britain, we know what wages, costs and tariffs are within the states themselves - and this determines the attitude to the production of the owner. If Asian tycoons do not hesitate to violate copyright and fake sports brands - what to expect from the quality of these products? And vice versa - overpaying for a thing, we reassure ourselves with a guarantee of quality.
But today, the manufacturing country is somewhat different from the same concept a decade ago. This is influenced by several factors. Firstly, the redistribution of power on the world market: only in the last 20 years has the share of Asia in total world exports increased by 30%. And it is unlikely that such a fast-moving outbreak absolutely does not pay attention to competition, to improving the quality of goods and services.
Further, there is such a term as the transfer of subsidiaries. Large manufacturers like Apple have their headquarters in Silicon Valley or on Wall Street, but assembly plants are located in China and Taiwan. Because it is so profitable in many aspects - starting from the cost of labor, ending with tax fees and benefits.
Consider an example
The effect that the producing country has on the purchase is most clearly demonstrated by a particular brand. Take the eternal confrontation between the two giants in the production of smartphones - if we have already mentioned Apple, the NTS remains.
High Tech Computer (HTC) is a young but promising Asian company of mobile phone devices. For HTC, the manufacturing country is not in dispute - and this is Taiwan. The headquarters of the corporation is located in the developing metropolis of Taoyuan. By the way, in comparison with Yabloko, the Thai company was founded in 1997, and introduced the first smartphones 4 years ago. And here it was found that the devices in their functionality are not that they are not inferior - in some way they even surpass the advertised “iPhones”. And here the price question arises, in which the NTS easily surpasses even the Asian industry leader - Samsung.
Please note: the country of origin of HTC - the recognized "tiger" of Taiwan, and in this case - it is original and prestigious. Owners would be very surprised to read "made in USA" on the back cover. Why, then, the Asian marking is suspicious of us in the manufacture of other things? Maybe it's time to reconsider your views on the postulates of marketing and throw aside the post-Soviet prejudices? After all, the world does not stand still, and only perfect competition drives it.
