Certainly, Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, whose biography at first glance may seem unremarkable, was the brightest political figure in the entire post-Soviet space. He held the highest public office in the "land of the Soviets" for 18 years. And, in fairness, it should be noted that not everyone can cope with this task, and he sometimes succeeded brilliantly, despite the mixed assessments of historians of the stagnation era.

So, Brezhnev Leonid Ilyich. The biography of the Soviet secretary general, of course, deserves a separate consideration.

The future leader of the USSR was born on the territory of Ukraine, in the village of Kamenskoye. From an early age, he was drawn to knowledge, wanting at all costs to become an educated person, which he, in fact, succeeded. At first he was a student in a regular gymnasium, then he entered a land-reclamation and land reclamation technical school, and in the mid-30s of the last century he became a graduate of the metallurgical institute.

Brezhnev Leonid Ilyich … His biography would be incomplete without mentioning the personal life of the Secretary General. He met his future wife Victoria Petrovna Denisova in 1925. Three years later, he officially formalized relations with her. In 1929, a daughter is born in the family, and four years later - a son.

Even during his studies, he was an ardent activist of the Komsomol organization. In 1931, Brezhnev Leonid Ilyich, whose biography served as a role model, joined the Communist Party of the USSR. At the end of the 30s of the twentieth century, he already headed one of the regional committees of the CPSU.

It should be emphasized that the family of Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev during the years of World War II was very strong and united. Everyone tried to bring the victory of the Soviet people over fascism closer, while the Secretary General himself led the management of the Southern Front. In 1943 he was awarded the title of Major General.

After 1945, Brezhnev rushed up his political career. He is trusted by leading posts in Moldova and Ukraine. In 1952, he was a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee, and during the reign of the Soviet country Nikita Khrushchev, he served as secretary of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.

In 1957 he was again a member of the Presidium, and three years later he became the head of the above body. Taking part in the behind-the-scenes political struggle against Khrushchev, he is appointed head of the CPSU.

Since the mid 60-ies of the last century, Leonid Ilyich began to reform the country, outlining the task of creating developed socialism. For some time, the economy received an impetus for growth: factories were given greater freedom of action and improved living conditions in the countryside. However, five years later, stagnation was emerging in domestic politics, and Brezhnev’s popularity rating as a politician fell sharply.

In relations with the West, the Secretary General continued his policy of active diplomatic cooperation, in particular, a number of disarmament agreements were signed in Europe.

In the mid-70s, the health of the CPSU leader deteriorated sharply: diseases of the cardiovascular system suddenly appeared, and it should be noted that he had been measured for a considerable number of years on Earth. The years of life of Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev: 1906 - 1982. The news of his death was a complete surprise. A few days before his own death, he participated in a parade that was dedicated to the celebration of the October Revolution. The organization of the burial of the Secretary General was Yuri Andropov himself.
