Biography

Denis Sergeevich Biryukov was born in Volgograd on 12/08/1988. When he was only a year old, the family moved to Belgorod. For the first time, the boy came to the volleyball court with his older brother - he had no one to leave the youngest with and had to take him with him. Subsequently, the brother quit training, and Denis stayed.

His first trainers were the parents of volleyball player Sergei Tetyukhin, so the future of the guy was predetermined. In 2005, Biryukov became a player in the Lokomotiv-Belogorye-2 team, which played in the first league of the Russian championship. At the end of the season he was called up to the youth team. In its composition, the European Championship in Kazan was won in 2006 and silver was won at the World Championships in Mexico in 2007.

Season 2008/09

Together with youth partners D. Ilyinykh, S. Bagrey and D. Krasikov, Denis Sergeyevich Biryukov began to play in the Super League on a regular basis for the subsidiary team of Metalloinvest (Belgorod club).

In 2009, a victory was won at the Universiade in Belgrade, where Biryukov attracted the attention of Daniele Bagnoli, the head coach of the Russian volleyball team, with his game. He included a young player in the application for participation in the 2009 European Championships in Istanbul. And on September 3, Denis spent the first match in his career for the Russian team.

Club Voyage

In the 2009/10 season, a volleyball player played for Lokomotiv-Belogorye, but could not stay in the starting lineup. On a leasehold basis, in 2011 he transferred to the Surgut club Gazprom-Ugra. Denis Sergeyevich Biryukov managed to strengthen the team and show his best qualities.

There were successes in the matches for the Russian national team: our volleyball players won the World Cup and the World League, and Biryukov took second place in the number of points scored for the season. Sports experts noted Denis’s rich tactical arsenal: he was able to alternate between unscrewing the ball from blocking hands and power attacks.

In the fall of 2011, a volleyball player began to play for the Lokomotiv club from Novosibirsk. In March 2013 he won with him the Champions League and, having scored 23 points, was recognized as the most productive player in the final match against the Italians from the Cuneo club.

Three months later, Denis Sergeyevich Biryukov moved to the metropolitan Dynamo. As part of the Moscow team, he won the Russian championships three times, and in 2015 he won the European Volleyball Confederation Cup.

Career in the Russian team

Things in the national team were less successful. In 2012, Biryukov played only three times in World League matches. In 2013, he joined the team after returning from the Universiade to Kazan and spoke at the Ubert Wagner Memorial, but he was not included in the application for the European championship.

After success at Dynamo, Denis was still returned to the national team, and in 2014 he played at the Polish World Championship and World League tournament.

For his performance at the Universiade in Kazan in July 2013, the athlete was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the President of the Russian Federation. He was also awarded the title of master of sports of international class.

Going to Belogorye and injury

After the end of the 2016/17 season, Denis Sergeyevich Biryukov moved to the Belgorod club Belogorye. In June 2017, playing for the Russian national team in the Final Six of the World League, he received a serious abdominal injury, and he needed surgery. In this regard, Belogorye suspended a contract with an athlete. According to Denis himself, the leadership of the Belgorod club did not provide him any support, and he was forced to undergo rehabilitation after an operation in Dynamo Moscow.
