Those of us who, in the very youngest years, were lucky enough to ride a children's railway, so similar to the real one, probably also remember our emotions in adulthood. Unfortunately, the more years we are separated from the Soviet Union, the fewer such interesting, but rather costly attractions for the city authorities. In this regard, the young residents of Orenburg were lucky - the children's railway in their city is alive: in 2017, the 64th season was opened here. We offer you a closer look at this attraction.
Orenburg children's railway today
Currently, the length of the railway is 5.8 km. There are four stations along its length:
- "Komsomolskaya" - is located on the picturesque embankment of the Urals, under the bridge.
- "Pioneer" (stop at the request of passengers) - the beach "Forshtadt", children's country camp "Amber".
- "Oaks" - children's suburban health centers "Polyanka" and "Oaks".
- “Kirovskaya” - DOLL “Torch” and DOLL “Zarya”.
Do not think that the children's railway in Orenburg today is just a fun and interesting attraction. On its basis, both theoretical and practical classes for students are held:
- 5-6th grade. The guys study general information about railways, railway transport. They are especially interested in comprehending the basics of the railway professions - the person on duty on moving, the station, the platform, controllers, conductors.
- 7th-9th grade. Older teens are already familiar with the basics of such specialties as a train dispatcher, a locomotive driver and his assistant, a train foreman, a station duty officer, a track fitter, and a wagon inspector.
- On the basis of the organization, there are also railway modeling clubs.
It is not without reason that this railway is called a nursery - it is not only a matter of small passengers. In the summer, with the opening of the season of her work, the practice begins with the guys. Creation and history of the Orenburg children's railway
The annals of this attraction in Chkalov (modern Orenburg), the center of the Orenburg railway section, began in 1953. It should be noted that the construction of the children's railway took only 68 days! It was begun on May 19, 1953, and on July 26 of the same year, its grand opening took place.
The first train was represented by the Kv4-017 train and five four-axle wagons of pre-revolutionary production. The length of the highway was 5 km; there were three stations and two platforms. At the stops, wooden station buildings towered and landing sites made of the same material.
Later the road was extended for another 800 m, which entailed the transfer of the terminal station. In 1957, the Beach platform was closed, and in 1958 the entire first squad was decommissioned.

Rolling stock
In 1958, at the beginning of its modern history, the Orenburg children's railway was rich in two diesel locomotives - TU2-083, TU2-008. Later TU2-086 joined them.
In 2012, TU2-086 and TU2-008 remained. Both locomotives went through major restoration work in 1999. In 2013, an addition happened - TU10-021. The cars are represented by six VP-750. All the time that the road does not function, the entire train "rests" under the open sky at the Dubki station.
The leadership of the children's railway plans to create an interchange at the Pionerskaya station to ensure the movement of not one, but two trains.
