Compared to the earliest civilizations, the ancient Greeks appeared on the pages of world history not so long ago. This Mediterranean state was born around the eighth century BC, and the first stage of its existence is the archaic period, which lasted only a few centuries.
However, even for such a short period of time, people living in southern Europe could invent many things without which it would be impossible to imagine our being even now. Being actually on the border of the Western and Southern Ancient worlds, Hellas (that is how the Greeks still call their country to this day) has become a stronghold of culture and science. It is the myths of the ancient Greeks, their philosophical teachings and religion that served as the basis for world religions, literary and pictorial works, which were written in the future.
Hellas is a country that has always been different from all other states and popular communities. Its main feature can be considered the language that the ancient Greeks used back in those days, almost in the form in which it is common today. Both the grammar and all the letters of the alphabet in this scripture are neither like Eastern manuscripts nor European ones. However, at the same time, it was Greek that formed the basis of many others. There were many reasons for this, and one of them was the Great Greek colonization, which allowed this people to spread as much as possible along the Mediterranean coast, and also to master the waters of neighboring seas. The life of a people like the ancient Greeks reflects the history of eternal political change. In it one can trace the periods of terrible tyranny and despotism, and the times when the inhabitants themselves were in power. In this country, for the first time, a decision was made to convene public meetings, which were held on the Agora. True, then the ancient Greeks called politics something that allows you to feel secure and at the same time free. Therefore, this aspect of the life of the state was closely connected with both philosophy and mythology. Thanks to its natural wealth, multiplied by its great creative potential, Greece has become a world center of trade. This was also facilitated by the very advantageous location of the country, through which lay the path from West to East. Therefore, over the centuries, Hellas absorbed the traditions of various peoples of the Ancient World, thereby replenishing its own cultural potential.
With the advent of a new era, the ancient Greeks were already one of the most developed ethnic groups on the planet. Science and art flourished in Hellas, and along with this, wars were constantly going on, which allowed expanding the territory and adding new provinces and colonies to it. This period is also famous for outstanding personalities, among which should be mentioned Alexander the Great, his father Philip II, the brilliant mathematician Archimedes and the philosopher Aristotle. Of course, it is impossible to fit the entire history of the Achaean people in several lines, since it lies in those artifacts and architectural monuments that have survived to this day from that ancient world.
