The guy from early childhood stood out in sports. Unfortunately, he practically did not know his father. His upbringing was carried out by mother and grandmother. They encouraged sports, realizing that for a black youth this is a good opportunity to succeed in life.
Rich choice
For whatever sport Jim undertook, everywhere he was, if not a champion, then one of the best. He played basketball very well, in a very little-known summer lacrosse (in short, this is where men run around the field with big net and they throw the ball into the goal). In 1955 he entered the start of the US national championship in athletics in the "Decathlon" section. Took fifth place. Given that American athletics is the strongest in the world, and Jim never focused on athletics training, this is a phenomenal result.
It is not surprising that the guy was given a bright light by a sports scholarship in one of the US universities. Jim had a crazy choice: 13 (1) higher education institutions invited him to his place, however, with different specialization in the sport. Jim Brown chose Syracuse University because there was an American football team - our hero’s favorite game.

Well, another soldier. And who else could be a black American, in public opinion? Maybe, of course, also an athlete. But the sports drama at the time of the dawn of the career of actor Brown did not form. Much later, in his filmography, this genre also appeared.
Brown made a big contribution to the development of black exploration - black cinema, where the cast is almost all black. It raises issues relevant to blacks, and, of course, are intended for the same viewer. Unfortunately, most of these films are the same crime dramas.
