Moscow is an amazing huge city growing right before our eyes. We will talk about this unique corner of wildlife, which is so necessary for a huge metropolis, we will learn about its origin and features.

A bit of history

Golyanovsky pond got its name due to the locality of the same name on which it is located. The Golyanovo district is located in the east of present-day Moscow. The first mention of it dates back to the sixties of the seventeenth century. It was a village of the palace village of Pokrovskoye, whose population was about 500 people, and peasant farmsteads, there were a little more than fifty. Golyanovo stretched on the hills in the upper reaches of the Pine, in the waters of which there has long been a small minnow loach, which gave the name and location. Here, in the floodplain of the river, there was an extensive swamp, which, by the will of a human genius, was later transformed into a pond.

Golyanovo became the metropolitan area in 1960, when the territory was planned, the construction of residential buildings and infrastructure began. In the early eighties, the decision made by the city authorities to improve the territory was fulfilled: the riverbed was chained, the swamp was drained, and a pond with reinforced concrete banks was built in its place. But today's neat and comfortable view of the Golyanovsky pond and the territory of the square around it found after a large-scale reconstruction carried out in 2011.

Today

This romantic corner of nature gives unforgettable pleasure to everyone who visits it: the discreet beauty of Central Russian nature, the water surface of the pond and the opportunity to observe the life of birds relieve tension, soothe and give strength. After the reconstruction, the entire coastal territory turned into a cozy green zone: the pond embankment was restored, the smooth paths around the pond were paved with tiles, children's and sports grounds were laid out, comfortable benches were installed, bicycle tracks were equipped. The pond and park area is constantly maintained.

Very close to the water there is a stage where various festive events are organized and performances of numerous creative groups are held. Members of the Pelican club competing in modeling radio-controlled boats compete in the water area of the pond.

Reservoir characteristic

Golyanovsky pond is located on the outskirts of Elk Island, preceding the beginning of the forest zone. The surface of the water surface is just over 8.5 hectares, and the total volume of water is estimated at 160 thousand cubic meters. m

Horse pond, formed in the floodplain of the river at the site of the swamp, its average depth does not exceed 2 meters. "Swamp origin" has done its job, the bottom of the reservoir is silty and covered with aquatic vegetation, so swimming is not recommended. But the Golyanovsky pond is a haven for many ducks, which the townspeople so love to feed. Numerous duck families dissect the water surface, bringing peace to the outside world, subduing them with their touching, gratefully accepting refreshments.

Frequent guests at the pond are fishermen. It's not about the huge catches that have remained in the past, but to sit by the water, wake up in your ear and enjoy the beauty and peace - the best way to spend time for many city residents.

Where is the Golyanovsky Pond

The pond adorns the possessions of the Elk Island national park, which has a rich history. Since the 15th century, royal people have been hunting here: Ivan the Terrible loved these places full of game, and Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov, enjoying the beauty of nature, made the most important state decisions. In these places, he built the first candle factory in Russia.

Elk Island was granted the status of a national park in 1983. Of the 12 hectares of the park, a third is located within Moscow. Here, in the eastern part of the city, not far from Shchelkovsky highway, there is a reservoir and the Golyanovo district itself.
