First steps in sports

On February 8, 1992, in the small town of Harlow, in the international family of an Englishman and a Finnish, Carl Jenkinson was born. Since childhood, football has interested the future star. When the boy was eight years old, he went to study at the club academy of the Charlton team. He stayed here until 2009, after which he signed a contract with the club at the age of seventeen.

Charlton

A few months after signing the agreement with Charlton, the head coach leased Carl to the Eastbourne Borough team, which was speaking at that time in a national conference where the young defender was supposed to get a stable playing practice. A little later, the player defended the colors of Welling United, and in December 2010 he returned to Charlton. At the same time, Karl Jenkinson made his debut in his composition against Brentford in the League Cup. On February 15, 2011, the defender first played for the club in the First League. Until the end of the season, he spent seven more matches for him, after which he fell into the sphere of interests of one of the English football grandees - the Arsenal club from London.

"Arsenal"

During the summer transfer window of 2011, the young defender signed an agreement with Arsenal for 4.5 years. For the education of a football player, the London club paid Charlton one million euros. Already in the month of August, Karl Jenkinson made his debut as part of a new team. Then, he replaced the Champions League qualification match against the Italian Udinese. A few days later, he played his first match in the national championship, replacing the injured main player in this position. Then the rival of Arsenal was Liverpool. Soon, the football player himself injured his back, which is why he flew out for three whole months. In the new season, he again mainly went on the substitute, appearing on the field in 21 matches throughout the year. From time to time, the “Gunners” mentor used it on the right side of the midfield. Very often it was Carl Jenkinson who actively participated in such games in scoring combinations of his team. Statistics of the football player in many respects contributed to the fact that the club offered him to extend the contract.

In the new season, the Arsenal coach tested the player as a central defender. As it turned out, such an undertaking completely paid off, since the “gunners” often ended their matches without goals conceded. Throughout the year, Karl repeatedly helped his partners score goals, noting assists, and scoring goals against the opponents. Mentor of the team in an interview with the press repeatedly called the player his lifesaver.

West Ham

July 31, 2014 Carl Jenkinson was rented for one season by West Ham Club. The London mentor agreed to let the young player go just because all the main defenders of his team were healthy. His official debut as part of the new team took place on September 15 in a match against Hull City. For a month, the footballer won a place in the first team. In the season, he took part in 36 official fights in various tournaments. As a result, West Ham offered Arsenal to sell a defender for 10 million pounds, which was refused. The only thing Arsenal’s management agreed to was to extend the lease for another year. In the new season, Carl went to the first team in all West Ham matches in the first round and became the real leader of the team. However, in January he flew out for two months due to an injury. Arsene Wenger admitted later that he already intended to return the defender from the lease, however, because of his damage, he refused this undertaking. Be that as it may, in February the player returned to Arsenal, however, due to damage to the cruciate ligament, he never played before the end of the season.
