Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan. In this article, we will briefly review the areas of this rich in unique history of its development, a wonderful and prosperous city.
Kazan: conditional division into parts
Like many other large ancient cities, Kazan also has its own conditionally accepted "districts" - settlements. The districts of Kazan were organized in them in the modern period.
The Russian settlement was distinguished by the fact that people (Russian artisans) who came from afar always lived and worked in it.
In the Tatar settlement, on the contrary, it was impossible to hear Russian speech. Tatars always lived here with their own language, rites and crafts.
These areas of original culture (settlement) exist in Kazan and now. But this is today a place where many tourists come with pleasure to experience the old history of Kazan.
The Tatar settlement is the cradle of the Tatar intelligentsia. There are many (about 20) mansions of merchants, industrialists of the Tatar and clergy. The Tatar settlement is located southwest of the center. Now this territory is part of the Vakhitovsky district.
The city also has other conditional areas (settlements) that were formed as Kazan developed: goats, admiralty, cloth, fish, berry, kizic. Each of them has its own curious story.
Modern Kazan: areas of Kazan
Now the city, like all Russian cities, is divided into administrative districts: the oldest - Vakhitovsky, Aircraft, Kirov and Moscow; more modern - Volga, Soviet and Novo-Savinovsky districts. There are also famous suburban areas with modern cottages.
Each of the seven urban areas has its own stages of development, its cultural and historical sights.
Kirovsky and Aircraft Building Areas
One of the largest - the Kirov district of Kazan - is located in the western part of the city center. The largest territory of the district is occupied by the forest park and industrial zones, the large residential village of Yudino and other nearby settlements. The beautiful Kirlay Park welcomes everyone to a good rest. The beautiful Swan Lake is also located here.
The Aircraft Building District is located north of the center. It includes several residential urban microdistricts and villages located on the periphery. The name itself suggests that there are factories in its territory: aircraft and engine building, helicopter. The largest in the city park “Wings of the Soviets” with a stadium (soccer field and ice rink) is located in this area of the city.
Vakhitovsky district
All areas of Kazan deserve attention. However, the most interesting is, although not very large, Vakhitovsky district, which occupies the oldest part of the city. It includes the center of Kazan, which is cultural and historical. State monuments include 469 buildings and structures located in the city center.
You can see fascinating historical and modern sights in it: ancient estates, the Kazan Kremlin, the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the house-museum of Ac. Arbuzovs. The beautiful area of the Bulak River and magnificent fountains near the G. Kamal Theater, the pedestrian Bauman Street and the Black Lake Park are the most visited places in the region.
All of the above areas of Kazan are the oldest in the city.
Moscow and Volga regions
The largest area is the Volga region, located on the south side of the center. Here extends a large residential area called "Gorki", the new complexes "Sunny City" and "Forest Town" and the surrounding villages. A significant part of the district is also occupied by large industrial enterprises, including TPP-1.
Northwest is the Moscow district. Kazan here extends from the historical Kizicheskaya and Koziya Sloboda, and extends to the Zhilploschadka microdistrict near the industrial zone of the Kazanorgsintez plant. The district includes three more suburban villages.
There is also a wonderful recreation area - Uritsky park with green spaces, a lake with delicate bridges and children's and sports grounds.
More modern areas
Novo-Savinovsky is the most densely populated area in Kazan. It occupies the north-eastern part of the capital. It housed the largest sleeping complex - "New Savinovo." In the southern part on the banks of the river. Kazanka built a new beautiful business district - the modern Millennium-Zilant City.
The famous Kazan Arena stadium, which hosts the world's largest sports competitions, has been built in this area.
Soviet and Novo-Savinovsky are relatively young areas of Kazan.
The eastern and northeastern parts of the city are occupied by the Soviet district, which began its formation in 1934. This includes the largest residential complex "Azino", which is home to more than 100, 000 people. Residential plots stretch along part of the Siberian and Mamadyshsky tract (Svetlaya Dolina, etc.), in the Ara fields, territories of the districts of A. Kutuya, Tankodrom, Kazan-XXI century (“Take-off”), Adela Kutuya (“Adelka”), in the largest village of Derbyshki and in peripheral areas. In the area there are a large number of large shopping and entertainment centers, sports complexes.
