Lezhninsky lake

Lezhninskoe (also Lezhnino) is the deepest lake in the Kirov region. Its surface area is small, it is about 0.04 km 2. A pond is an almost perfect funnel, like a volcano caldera. The average depth of the lake is 15 m, however, starting from this point, it increases sharply, reaching a point of almost 37 m.

An interesting fact, Lake Lezhninsky is not an ordinary body of water, but a hydrological monument of nature. Presumably, the lake has such a kind of origin as karst-suffosion. It was formed after the collapse of the arch of the underground cave-cavity of enormous size. There is also a version that it is formed as a result of the impact of a fallen meteorite.

The water in shallow water in Lake Lezhninsky in the Kirov region has a greenish and turquoise color and is sufficiently transparent, which attracts diving enthusiasts here. The bream, perch, pike and roach in the lake all year round attract fishermen here. Crayfish are also found in the reservoir, in connection with this you can meet those who hunt for them. In the warm season, there are many vacationers on the lake, there are wild beaches. The pleasant coolness of the reservoir perfectly refreshes in extreme heat.

Oryol Lake

Oryol Lake in the Kirov Region is located in the Kirov-Chepetsk District. Its surface area is also very small and amounts to 0.63 km 2. It, like Lake Lezhninsky, is a hydrological natural monument of regional significance.

This body of water has an oval shape, reaching a length of 550 m and a width of 350 m. The lake is located at an altitude of 150 m above sea level. The peculiarity of the reservoir is that it has several small islands. On the site of the lake, which lies in the northwest, there is a beach, which in the summertime is completely occupied by vacationers.

The lake has a muddy bottom, but the water is clear to a depth of about one and a half meters. There are perch, pike, carp, catfish and roach in the pond. Fishing lovers come to the lake all year round for their trophy.

Shaitan lake

The description of the lakes of the Kirov region will be incomplete, if not to mention the Shaitan Lake. It is located in the Urzhum district, in its southern part. Like the two previous reservoirs, this lake belongs to natural hydrological as well as geological natural monuments.

Its area is about 2 hectares, in depth it reaches 12 m, however, according to some reports, there are depths of up to 25 m. Shaitan has the correct ellipse shape and dimensions - 180 m in width and 240 in length. It should be noted that this reservoir is part of a nature reserve called the Bushkovsky Forest.

This lake has karst origin, it has siphon circulation. In the reservoir there are karst cavities and cracks that are filled with water. Through vertical wells, cavities (caves) and large cracks communicate with each other. In the lake, in depth, there are pressure artesian waters.

The lake got its name “Shaitan” because of the gushing of water in some places. This is due to artesian waters, which periodically push settling sludge, as well as peat into vertical underwater wells. Water emissions occur after heavy rains and in the spring, after snow melts.

Also on this reservoir there are so-called floating islands. In fact, the islands located on the lake are in one place. They are covered with a layer of water during floods or in spring, when snow melts and the water level rises.
