Biography and personal life

Simon Merrells was born in London in 1965, two years earlier than his brother Jason. Parents and teachers supported the brothers' interest in the acting profession. From early childhood, Simon and Jason attended evening acting classes at Sylvia Young's school, and later entered the theater college. Soon, Simon dropped out and began working as a taxi driver to earn money for a trip to Mexico, where he later began painting. Upon his return to England, Simon took part in the productions of the experimental theater in Brighton, where his brother lived at that time.

Theatrical career

In 2007, the brothers Simon and Jason played the twins in the production of the comedy of errors. Simon Merrells has worked many times with director Stephen Birkoff: first on a world tour with the play "The Tragedy of Coriolanus." Then came the role of Terry Malloy in the production of "In the Port."

Variety Magazine wrote: "Simon Merrells has the energy to play Terry, but he will never leave Brando's shadow." Merrells also played the role of Benedict in the play “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Liverpool Drama Theater in 2007, and then the role of Oedipus in another production of Birkoff in the same theater in 2011. For this role, he was nominated for a theater award. A little later, in the same year, Merrells played detective Philip Marlowe in the production of Deep Sleep. British newspaper The Stage called his performance Marlowe "charming", but "too courteous and cunning."
