Russia has long been a multinational and multinational (since there are historically many ethnic groups not included in nationalities) country. For the most part, Russians are a people quite tolerant and not malicious with respect to foreigners (Gentiles, people of the “wrong” nationality). Unfortunately, this does not apply to Muscovites, but they have their own specific reasons for such a special relationship.

The historical ethnic composition of Russia

Of course, it is rather naive to assume that Russia has retained a single ethnic composition over the long historical millennia. Moreover, from the very beginning, its territory included places of residence, to put it mildly, of not quite Slavic peoples. But many modern Russians are keenly interested in the question: "But still, how many nationalities are there in Russia?"

The answer to it is rather difficult. First of all, national and national minorities originally lived on Russian territory, which would be difficult to attribute not only to the “Russians”, even to the more vague Slavs. This includes the heroes of Soviet anecdotes of the Chukchi, and the Chuvash, and the Bashkirs, and the Udmurts, and the Tatars. It is difficult even to count all nationalities and nationalities, and yet each of them has its own distinctive culture, and any representative of them is still a citizen of a free and tolerant Russian Federation. Determining how many nationalities in Russia is probably no easier than counting the number of stars in the night sky in clear weather.

The influence of politics on the national composition of Russia

At the same time, the political factors of the formation of the ethnic component of the Russian community should be taken into account. Here, first of all, the tense situation in the Caucasus, from where civilians flee families. Many of them, with sufficient perseverance and, what is there to deceive, tricks, manage to obtain citizenship. And as a result, the question: “How many nationalities in Russia?” each time has a new answer. After all, it is necessary to take into account the Caucasian nationalities, which gradually merged into Russian society.

Migration and national diversity

Next come the so-called guest workers. It’s clear, the phenomenon in society is not very pleasant, entailing problems with living, an increase in crime. Neglecting the rules of conduct often creates difficult conditions for neighbors of rented apartments. But at the same time, labor migrants do dirty and hard work, for which the same public utilities often look for applicants for years. And they, too, sometimes become citizens of a beloved country: Kazakhs, Turkmen, Ukrainians, Moldavians, Belarusians and Uzbeks join the Russians.
