Alexey Kalyuzhny: sports achievements and biography

Alexey Kalyuzhny is one of the most titled hockey players in the history of independent Belarus. He spent most of his career mainly in Russian teams, was a participant in the Olympic Games and world championships.

early years

The future forward was born back in 1977 in Minsk. He began to engage in sports quite early. As a child, I went to the youth hockey sports school. He was one of the most promising players in his age category. It stood out against the background of peers of small stature and dense physique. Trainers noticed that the child has potential, and therefore paid him a little more attention. He, in turn, was happy to study and wanted to go out on the ice one day as a professional player. In the early nineties, the young man continues to perform in Belarus and gains great experience. At one point, he understands that it is unlikely to succeed in his native country, and therefore decides to go to Russia. As it turns out later, Alexey Kalyuzhny made the right decision.

Adult career

At the age of seventeen, he becomes a full-fledged player in Moscow Dynamo. Due to difficulties with adaptation, he managed to take part in only two matches. Season 1995-1996 started as a part of Neftekhimik. Despite the fact that the hockey player was only eighteen years old, he showed a fairly confident game and the next year returned to Dynamo. From 1996 to 2000 he was a stable player in the basic composition of Muscovites. During this time, he spent almost two hundred games and scored twenty-eight goals. It is worth noting that the successes of such an athlete as Alexei Kalyuzhny did not go unnoticed. The hockey player moves to Metallurg from Magnitogorsk as one of the most promising forwards.

From 2000 to 2002 he was a stable player in the foundations of the Magnitogorsk team. Spent over a hundred matches and scored many important goals. Despite good statistics, the management of Metallurg decides to refuse the services of a Belarusian. He begins the next season at Severstal. He takes part in fifty fights and writes thirty-three points to his account.

Championship 2003-2004 becomes no less successful. The hockey player plays in almost all matches and puts in his asset thirty-two effective actions. In the same year, his native “Youth” invites him. Alexey Kalyuzhny was supposed to help the team in the playoffs. He coped with this task on a solid five.

From 2004 to 2008 he defended the colors of Vanguard. This period is one of the most successful in the career of an athlete. He takes part in almost all matches and writes a huge amount of points to his account. In 2008, he returned to Dynamo Moscow, where he would spend two seasons. Despite a good game, he decides to move to Vanguard again, where he will again perform well for two years. After leaving the Omsk team, the hockey player will play in Lokomotiv and go to Dynamo Minsk at sunset. A career of an athlete named Aleksey Kalyuzhny was very saturated. Photos from the games in each team occupy an important place in the hockey player’s memorable album.

In the national team of Belarus

Aleksey began playing for Belarus back in 1996. It was a youth team with which the hockey player took part in the world championship. A year later, he again falls into the national team of those who are not yet twenty years old, and again in its composition goes to the world championship. In the same year, the main team of the country receives a challenge for the first time and becomes a participant in the adult international championship. He played in seven games and scored three goals. After this tournament, Alexei Kalyuzhny literally woke up famous throughout the world. And in 1998, he went to the Olympics, where he became a participant in all the games, but the team took only seventh place.

In total, during his career he played three times in the Winter Olympic Games and fourteen times in world championships. As for the statistics for the national team, it looks like this: eighty-nine games, twenty-six abandoned goals and thirty-six assists.
