It all started like this: Bella - that is the name of the main squirrel heroine - barely turned a month old when an owl attacked her. The consequences of the attack were terrifying. If it were not for the actions of the animal rescue group, it would not have survived alone in the wild.

The fight for Bella's life
Rescuers handed a small squirrel to Brantley Harrison, a member of the animal welfare organization, where Bella helped with the recovery. The pet joined three other squirrels undergoing rehabilitation: Larry, Mo and Curlim. So Bella gradually entered the life and hearts of the Harrison family.
For 6 months, Brantley took care of Bella. The animal lived in an open space created for the rehabilitation of animals. Bella was fed daily with milk formula, fruits, vegetables and, of course, a lot of nuts.

It was planned that as soon as Bella recovered, she would be sent to freedom in the wild. Already in April of the following year, all squirrels were returned to their natural habitat. Only one of them did not want to part with her temporary owners.
Home is where the heart is
Bella has been visiting the human family regularly for over 8 years. Brantley explains that it is not uncommon for animals that go through rehabilitation to return in a few days. However, cases where this has been going on for several years are extremely rare. Bella has been in contact with this family for over 8 years.
“Bella was sitting right at the front door, waiting for us to notice her visit. Once she jumped in front of the dining room window so that we could see her, ”the girl says.
Although Bella disappears from time to time, Brantley always knows: in the end, the animal will return. The squirrel joyfully takes nuts from the hands of the hostess, affectionately kissing her in return. She even gets along with Willy, Amos and Sid, Harrison family dogs.
