History of occurrence

Zoological Museum (St. Petersburg) was opened in 1838. The development of the institution began with the Kunstkamera. In 1896, the museum was located in the warehouse building. There, in 1901, an exhibition hall was opened. From 1930-1931 in the building created the Zoological Institute. The architect of the building was Lucini. All exhibits presented in the halls are updated and arranged in accordance with the zoological hierarchy. Here you can see almost all groups of the animal world of the planet, ranging from invertebrates to amphibians and reptiles. There is a large collection of mammals and birds.
