It is still not customary to loudly discuss not quite typical love stories. Many consider same-sex couples a whim, stupidity, perversion, but the fact remains that such people were, are and will be. So why blame? Moreover, among them there are people who have left their mark on history, music and culture. For example, Freddie Mercury and his last known partner Jim Hatton.

After the curtain

As always, the dirty details of this man’s life surfaced after his death. Only three days passed, and the whole audience already believed that Jim Hatton died of AIDS, although the doctors did not name the exact disease, but mentioned that the reason was smoking. Surprisingly, there is little accurate, confirmed information about Jim. He was a quiet man, no matter what the media said about him. Maybe it was this feature that partly brought him closer to Mercury. Tom also did not like the close attention of the press. The musician rarely gave interviews and kept his personal life in relative secrecy.

Acquaintance

The first meeting took place in a bar in 1984. The then-famous Freddie Mercury offered Hatton a drink. Then a conversation ensued. Hatton did not recognize the musician at first and therefore communicated without much enthusiasm. After the first meeting, the potential couple broke up for a year and a half, in order to meet in the same bar after a while! There, a spark had already run, and after a short time, Jim Hatton moved to Mercury. For the next two years, they lived together, and then a black period began in their life, a real plague of homosexuals came - AIDS. In 1987, he was discovered by Freddy. He immediately invited the partner to leave, saying that he would understand his departure and accept him. But Hatton was adamant. He said that he loves and will not go anywhere. Until the death of Mercury, Jim Hutton took care of him, showed feasible care, was close by and supported. Hatton survived his beloved by more than 10 years.

Environment

Rumor has it that Freddie Mercury was a lecherous man and paid for messy connections. Is it so? Perhaps he was looking for love? In the life of a musician, there were few truly close people; he chose the environment meticulously. Jim Hatton and Freddie Mercury were together for six years, most of this time was difficult for Hatton due to her boyfriend's illness. Even in the life of a musician was Peter Freestone, whom he considered his closest friend. And, of course, Mary Austin, who was Freddie’s girlfriend seven years before the change of orientation. He devoted many songs to her and preserved tender feelings until the end of his life. Surprisingly, there are sources that refute the very existence of these people! The memoirs of people talking about their proximity to a rock star are especially fiercely criticized.

Farewell to the era

Jim Hatton's funeral took place in Ireland. The media did not miss the opportunity to recall the proximity of Jim and Freddy. The latter left Hatton a tidy sum and land in the city of Carlow, in Jim's homeland. Despite the fact that Jim was also diagnosed with HIV infection back in 1990, he died for another reason. By the way, precisely because of this infection, Hatton is sometimes called the murderer of Mercury, because the singer announced his diagnosis a few days before his death in 1991.

Until now, the circumstances of the death of the musician are shrouded in mystery. Sometimes you can even find information that Mercury died of bronchial pneumonia caused by AIDS. In 1987, an article was published about Mercury and the Queen group, where the musician appeared as the organizer of sexual orgies and cocaine parties. After some time, Freddy made a refutation, saying that now he thought better of it, tied up with his former way of life, was tested for AIDS and he is clean. Many believe that Jim Hatton has become a symbol of change. The cause of death of the latter was provoked by constant smoking. Hatton died of cancer, not having lived a few days before his 61st birthday.

For posterity

The story of Hatton and Mercury continues to be mysterious, although in 1994 Jim Hatton's book Mercury and Me was released, which really shocked the audience with frankness. Would a truly loving person flaunt such savory details of bed scenes? Can you believe the photographs presented here in abundance? Across the world, fans opposed the publication, who initially questioned Hutton’s proximity to the generation’s idol. But the big glossy book is definitely interesting, so few people pay attention to a number of inconsistencies that are meticulously sought after by followers and fans. Restrained smiles at them cause photos that contradict the laws of physics.
