"Bird home"

In the list of main attractions and museums in Yalta, which are worth visiting in the first place, is the "Swallow's Nest". For many years it has been a symbol of the entire peninsula. There is a castle in the village of Gaspra on a rock, the height of which is comparable to the height of the flight of birds. Incredibly beautiful and airy structure is amazing, even if you are not visiting it for the first time. It is made of gray stone, making it look like a real knight's castle.

The history of the beautiful structure dates back to the late nineteenth century. The original purpose of the castle is still not known exactly. Either it was built to live, or as a tourist attraction.

The first building on the rock was made of wood. It was the cottage of the general of the Russian-Turkish war. Subsequently, she passed into the possession of a doctor from the Livadia Palace. Later, his widow resold the house of Rachmanina, who gave the structure the name "Swallow's Nest." The look we were accustomed to was given to the castle by the German Steingel. According to his plan in 1912, the wooden structure turned into a stone castle with turrets.

Despite the modest size of the building, at different times it attracted the attention of filmmakers and artists. Films such as Amphibian Man, Ten Little Indians and others were filmed here.

Over the years, the castle housed a restaurant, reading room, exhibition center. But since 1971, the building has been a tourist attraction and is included in the heritage of federal significance. The initial interior decoration, unfortunately, has been completely lost. Currently, the walls of the building exhibited paintings and museum exhibits. The castle is open to visitors from 10:00 to 19:00.

Historical Museum

The historical museum in Yalta is a rather complex complex. It includes several institutions. Among them is the Glade of Tales, which we mentioned earlier. The complex also includes the house-museums of Yalta: Biryukova N.Z., Treneva-Pavlenko, as well as sectors of Russian culture, archeology, pre-revolutionary Russia and the history of Soviet society.

The decision to organize a historical museum was made in 1802 at the initiative of a doctor and public figure Dmitriev. Initially, it was within the walls of the Crimean-Caucasian Mountain Club. Later, departments of ethnography, archeology, botany, and geology were formed.

In the pre-revolutionary period, funds were replenished thanks to donations. After the revolution, painstaking work to collect exhibits began. In the pre-war period, the Yalta Museum of Local Lore became the center of the cultural life of the city. After the Second World War, the institution reinstated in 1946.

Currently, the Yalta Historical Museum has approximately 75 thousand exhibits. After the war, large collections of antique ceramics from ancient villas, summer residences and coastal palaces, objects of applied art, ancient monuments, household items, etc. were transferred to the funds. Over the next decades, the exposition was regularly replenished with materials found during archaeological excavations. In the list of museums in Yalta, the Historical Museum occupies the first position, since it is its rich exposition that will allow you to get acquainted with the history of the region. Tourists who visited it celebrate incredibly interesting exhibits and an entertaining tour.

Biryukov House Museum

One of the museums in Yalta (Crimea) is the literary and memorial complex of Biryukov. It is located in the walls of the house where the Soviet writer lived in recent years. The institution is worth a visit to all lovers of literature. Its exposition is dedicated to the work and life of the writer, who wrote the famous novel "The Seagull" and other works.

The fate of Biryukov is very tragic. Even in his youth, he was struck by a serious illness, because of which he was bedridden. And only thanks to his wife, the writer was able to lead an active lifestyle, travel around the country and meet people. The museum is open to visitors all days except Monday and Tuesday, from 10:00 to 18:00.

Literary and memorial complex Treneva-Pavlenko

The house-museum of Trenev K.A. and Pavlenko P.A. was opened in 1958. At the time, the building became the literary laboratory of two unique Soviet writers. The house was built in 1937-1939 according to the idea of the son of the writer V. Trenev. The museum exposition is dedicated to the literary activity of two writers.

The house-museum of Chekhov A.P.

Anton Pavlovich moved to Yalta in 1898 and immediately built a house with an outbuilding. The architect Shapovalov worked on his project. Already in 1899, Chekhov settled in the house and for five years wrote in it. At this time, such famous works as “The Cherry Orchard”, “The Lady with the Dog, ” “Three Sisters” were created. Unfortunately, in 1927 the house was significantly damaged due to an earthquake, but a year later it was again restored. Another test for the building was the years of war and occupation. But even in this difficult time, exhibits were not lost.

The literary museum was opened in 1966. A separate building was built for him. At the end of the seventies, it was restored, and in 1983 a new exhibition “The Life and Work of A.P. Chekhov” opened for visitors. The highlight of the institution is the philatelic collection of Anton Pavlovich. The writer has collected about thirty packages of stamps, among them there are foreign copies. The museum fund has 17 thousand items, among which there are things that belonged not only to the writer, but also to his mother and wife. These are manuscripts, letters, photographs, relics. The museum’s book fund alone has 450 publications. Furniture items can also be considered exhibits.

According to tourists' reviews, it is very interesting to walk through the rooms decorated in the Art Nouveau style and see in what atmosphere Chekhov lived and worked. The writer’s house-museum can be visited on any day except Monday and Tuesday, from 9:00 to 18:00. Tickets cost 200 rubles for adults and 100 for children.

Another house is connected with the name of Chekhov, which is located in the Chekhov Bay in Gurzuf, called the dacha.
