Athlete Biography
Julia Konovalova was born in the village of Kushchevskaya in the north of the Krasnodar Territory. She was born in 1990.
At age 12, her parents sent her to the weightlifting section. After this, Konovalova Julia became a completely different person, the first place in her life was taken by sport.
Already at that time, she began to show high results. At 16, she moved to the suburbs. In Podolsk, she began training with the Honored Coach of Russia Vladimir Safronov. Under his leadership, she achieved all of her biggest sporting successes.

In 2007, Julia Konovalova became a student at the social sports institute in Podolsk. Then the first successes at the international level came to her.
In Italy, at the European Championships in Weightlifting, in which girls and boys under 17 took part, she won the silver award.
In 2010, another success for Julia Konovalova came at the World Junior Weightlifting Championships. The athletes who spoke did not reach the age of 20. The championship was held in Bulgaria, the heroine of our article managed to take first place.
European Championship among juniors
After only a year, she won the gold at the European Championship among youth. This time among peers no older than 23 years in Romania, she again raised the highest weight.
As often happens at continental championships, the Russian woman had to compete with her compatriots and, of course, by herself.
Already at the youth starts, Konovalova entered the weight category of over 75 kilograms. It is noteworthy that her main rival at these starts, Julia Kachaeva from North Ossetia, turned out to be the same weight. Both athletes on the scales showed the same results - 96 kilograms and 200 grams.
The first exercise is a jerk. Konovalova immediately took the weight of 130 kilograms, her rival Kachaeva was able to lift only 110. Ukrainian Tatyana Varlamova climbed to the third intermediate place. Despite the fact that she herself weighed significantly more than Russians - as much as 136 kilograms - in the snatch she was able to lift only 108.
The second exercise is a push. Varlamova again can’t even lift a weight comparable to her own. Her result is only 132 kilograms. The Russians are lifting the rods, which are almost twice their parameters. This will be especially true in relation to Konovalova, who defeated 160 kilograms. Kachaeva raised 140.
As a result, Konovalova became the European champion in the sum of two exercises. Her total result is 290 kilograms. In second place is another Russian woman Kachaeva (250 kilograms), a bronze award goes to Ukrainian Tatyana Varlamova (240 kilograms).
In adult competitions
For the first time, Julia Konovalova took part in an adult international tournament in 2012. As part of the national team, she arrived in Antalya for the European Championship. Konovalova Julia Vladimirovna performed in the most prestigious category - over 75 kilograms. By the way, the weight of the athlete herself is about 95 kilograms.
Ironically, compatriot Tatyana Kashirina turned out to be her main rival. Almost the same age as Konovalova (she is a year younger), a pupil of the Dynamo sports society, weighing 102 kilograms.
During the jerk exercise, the representative of Azerbaijan, 34-year-old Yulia Dovgal, who has dual citizenship of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, wedged into their struggle. In a jerk, she lifted 123 kilograms, Konovalova succumbed to a weight of only 122 kilograms, and Kashirina immediately broke out into the leaders. Moreover, her advantage was very tangible - she immediately raised 145 kilograms.
In the second exercise, the jerk, Konovalova walked around Dovgal (153 kilograms versus 150), Kashirina again was far ahead with the result of 183 kilograms. As a result, Tatyana has gold, the heroine of our article is a silver medalist, and the representative of Azerbaijan is bronze.
It is worth noting that that tournament was very successful for Russian weightlifters. They took first place in the team event, winning 14 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze medals. The second place in the overall standings of the Azerbaijani team, the third - in the Turkish national team.
After that, Konovalova also went to the European Youth Championship in Romania, where she celebrated her victory.
Second European Championship
Yulia Konovalova, whose biography is closely related to sports, went to her second European championship in 2014. It was a competition in Israel, which again brought together the strongest representatives of this sport on the continent.
Konovalova performed in her crown weight category - over 75 kilograms. Again she had to compete with Kashirina. This time, the Romanian weightlifter Andrea Aanei joined the fight for medals.
In a jerk, Konovalova raised 115 kilograms, Aanei - 111, and Kashirina went into the gap with a result of 143 kilograms.
In the push after Konovalova, a result of 150 kilograms was obeyed, but Kashirina still raised 30 kilograms more. As a result, the heroine of our article again has a silver medal of the European championship.
