What is a hackle?
So, hackle is a type of buildings, common among the inhabitants of rocky regions. The main feature is that its walls are built directly on the soil itself without the use of any foundation.
Initially, clay was the main building material, since due to the peculiarities of the region it was simply impossible to use others. Wooden floor was also a rarity and was present only in the homes of noble people.
By the way, now for many mountain peoples, sakla is a word denoting an ordinary house. For example, a similar expression is often used by residents of the Caucasus.
Design features
Saklya is a mountain house, so the ancient craftsmen had to learn how to choose the right place for its construction. Indeed, in such a terrain a very strong wind sometimes rages, capable of fairly shaking the house. And you should not forget about streams flowing down from the slopes, unless, of course, there is a desire to wake up in a humid room.
As for the layout itself, it depended on the status of the tenant. So, it could have from two to four rooms. Among them were a living room, a master bedroom and a kitchen, where the residents of the house spent most of their time.
