Perm is a modern, developed city, on whose territory and in the immediate vicinity today there are several large necropolises at once. One of them is known far beyond its borders, and not because of its antiquity or historical value. The Northern Cemetery was founded in 1983, and over the entire time of its existence, the territory has expanded more than once. Over time, the territory of the necropolis was divided into two approximately equal parts, each of which was also divided into squares and quarters. Finding the right grave here without knowing its exact “address” is virtually impossible. The northern cemetery is quite well-maintained: lighting is provided on its territory and a scheduled bus operates. Today, the total area is 243 hectares, and the city of the dead has nowhere to expand.
Perm city news: Northern cemetery is closed
The largest Perm necropolis was officially closed in the fall of 2014 due to lack of space for new burials. This event was carefully planned, and the residents of the city suffered serious problems associated with the burial of loved ones. By the close of the Northern cemetery, the territories of several other active necropolises were expanded, and the construction of a new ritual complex, the Eastern Cemetery, was also begun. According to the plans of the developer, the commissioning of the facility should take place in 2016. In addition to the landscaped area and the possibility of traditional burial of the deceased, the new necropolis will have its own crematorium, the first in the entire region.
Northern cemetery today
Today, in the necropolis, burial sites are suspended. An exception is the creation of new graves in family plots. The cemetery is open to visitors, and all the conditions for caring for burial places are created on its territory. At the entrance you can buy fresh and artificial flowers, wreaths and other accessories. In each square there is an organized place for garbage disposal, a sanitary and hygiene point with water supply.
